AGA and La Cornue Recall $6,000-$20,000 Dual-Fuel Ranges Over Missing Gas Test-Port Cap

AGA Rangemaster is recalling about 3,992 dual-fuel ranges in the United States because the cap may be missing from the gas test port on the manifold. The Consumer Product Safety Commission posted the recall, number 26-756, on September 10, 2026. It covers AGA Elise and Mercury series ranges and La Cornue CornuFé ranges sold through authorized dealers between March 2025 and July 2026, at $6,000 to $20,000 apiece.
CPSC and AGA report no incidents, no gas leaks tied to the missing cap, no injuries and no property damage.
Owners are told to shut off the gas supply and wait for a free inspection and repair by a certified technician. That's roughly 4,000 households. Every one of them is now sitting on a scheduled gas call.
A gas test port is a pressure tap: a small threaded opening in the manifold, or on the outlet side of the regulator, there so a technician can connect a manometer and read manifold pressure with the burners running. Natural gas appliances usually want something around 3.5 inches of water column. Propane runs higher, closer to 10 or 11. The rating plate gives the figure for that appliance. The check is routine on any conversion, any new install, any complaint about a lazy yellow flame.
When the check is finished, the port gets sealed with its screw or cap. Then you leak-check it with soap solution. That seal is the only barrier between the gas manifold and the room.
A range that left the line without one leaks the moment it's piped up, no failure sequence and no wear-in period required. Open the supply valve and gas moves through an opening the size of a pencil lead into a cabinet full of ignition sources. CPSC classified the hazard as a risk of serious injury or death from fire or explosion, which is a fair reading of an open tap under a cooktop.
It's also, unlike most recall defects, something a tech can confirm in a minute with a flashlight and bubble solution. Anybody who carries a manometer for gas valve work knows the port on sight. The Fisher & Paykel delayed-ignition recall had no tell that easy.
Identifying the Recalled Ranges
CPSC lists six model numbers: AEL361DF and AEL481DF (Elise), AMC36DF and AMC48DF (Mercury), and LAC9 and LAC1 under the La Cornue CornuFé 90 and CornuFé 110 names. The AGA units come in 36- and 48-inch widths, the CornuFé in 36 and 43. Colors run to stainless, white and 13 others. Manufacture dates run March 19, 2025 through July 24, 2026. The model and serial sit on the rating plate on the bottom panel under the storage drawer. On a range this heavy, that means pulling the drawer, not the appliance.
AGA runs a serial-number lookup through Composition Brands and a phone line at 888-257-7912, staffed 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET on weekdays. The recall pages are agarangeusa.com/testcap-recall and lacornueusa.com/testcap-recall. AGA puts the service visit at approximately 60 minutes: an Authorized Service Provider inspects the range, adds a test port cap if one is missing, then confirms no gas is leaking from the port.
The Import Problem
CPSC names AGA Rangemaster Limited as the manufacturer and the United Kingdom as the country of manufacture. Both brands now sit inside Composition Brands, the residential kitchen business that 26North took majority control of from Middleby on February 2, 2026, alongside Viking, Rangemaster, Lynx and U-Line.
Components for an Elise or a CornuFé don't cross-reference off the shelf the way a domestic range does. Lead times run on import schedules, and recall labor flows through the brand's authorized network. A shop outside that network can't bill this repair. If enough of these ranges sit in your territory to justify it, factory authorization is the only route to the work.
Health Canada issued its own notice on the same date and reported 261 units sold in Canada. CPSC's page puts the Canadian figure at about 336. Both agencies report zero incidents in either country as of August 14, 2026.
The build window closed on July 24, 2026, seven weeks before CPSC posted, so floor stock should be clean. It's the installed base that generates calls.
